The PanNENomics Project: A Call for an International Collaborative Effort Built on the Success of the LungNENomics Project

#2992

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors are rare understudied diseases at the molecular level, especially those occurring in sites outside the lung and the gastrointestinal track. This lack of knowledge has strong implications for the clinical management of these diseases (Rindi et al. Mad Pathol 2018).

Aim(s): To perform a comprehensive molecular characterization of neuroendocrine tumors of all body sites.

Materials and methods: The Rare Cancers Genomics initiative (RCG, www.rarecancersgenomics.com) takes advantage of the expertise provided by a multidisciplinary team, and by means of state-of-the-art computational analyses (including machine learning and AI) as well as exceptional bio-repositories, to generate, analyze and interpret, genome, transcriptome and epigenome data on rare cancers, particularly neuroendocrine tumors.
