#4185 Primary hepatic neuroendocrine neoplasms – Clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of a rare disease

Introduction: Liver involvement in Neuroendocrine Neoplasms (NEN) most commonly encompasses metastases from other organs or from an unknown primary. The current WHO classification defines primary hepatic NEN (PHNEN) as a distinct entity. With only few cases of PHNEN reported and difficulty to discern them from hepatic metastases, evidence on optimal management is very limited.

#1592 Primary Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of the Breast: A Diagnostic Approach to the Special Type of Breast Malignancy

Introduction: WHO classification from 2003 defines primary neuroendocrine carcinomas (NEC) of the breast as a group of tumors with expression of neuroendocrine markers in more than 50% of tumor cells. In the current WHO classification this category is renamed to “carcinomas with neuroendocrine features” without defined clear-cut of the percentage of tumor cells positive for neuroendocrine markers.

#50 Clinical-morphology correlation in diagnostics and evaluating surgery results of pancreatic insulinoma and nesidiobastosis

Introduction: Organic hyperinsulinism syndrome (OHS) is revealed in 85% cases of pancreas insulinoma. Nesidioblastosis (NB) induces OHS in 15% of the cases. Surgical cure provides all symptoms of insulinoma disappearing, while cytoreductive operation results in considerable improvement of life quality. There is no intraoperative opportunity to reveal insulinoma grade, even if an urgent biopsy is performed. Thus, it is essential to determine the cause of OHS and to apply the surgical cure method during the preoperational period, thereby improving the long-term prognosis.
