#4396 Hypoxic microenvironment in neuroendocrine tumours

Introduction: The hypoxic microenvironment is a hallmark of many solid tumours, including neuroendocrine tumours (NETs). Hypoxia plays a crucial role in tumour progression, metastasis, and therapy resistance. However, the specific mechanisms by which hypoxia influences NET behaviour remain poorly understood.

#4395 Mechanisms of drug resistance in neuroendocrine tumours: A basic research study

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) often show resistance to chemotherapy and targeted therapies, leading to treatment failure. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying this resistance remain poorly understood.

#4319 Everolimus combined with orlistat inhibits the development of neuroendocrine tumours by inhibiting the mTOR-PI3K-Akt signalling pathway

Introduction: Everolimus, an mTOR inhibitor, has demonstrated efficacy in NET treatment. Orlistat, used primarily for obesity management, inhibits fat absorption. This study investigates the potential synergistic effects of Everolimus combined with Orlistat on the development of NETs.

#3989 Hypoxia upregulating ACSS2 enhances lipid metabolism reprogramming through HMGCS1 mediated PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway to promote the progression of pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms

Introduction: Pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (pNENs) are relatively rare. Hypoxia and lipid metabolism-related gene acetyl-CoA synthetase 2 (ACSS2) is involved in tumor progression, but its role in pNENs is not revealed.

#3188 mTOR pathway inhibitors differently effect proliferation and gene expression in pancreatic and pulmonary NET cell lines

Introduction: The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) is part of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signalling pathway which has a central role in the oncogenesis of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Everolimus (EVE), an mTOR inhibitor, has shown effective in delaying progression of advanced NETs, but with a limited long-term efficacy, possibly due to a compensatory activation of the PI3K/AKT signalling. BYL719, a PI3K inhibitor, was shown to inhibit growth of several NET cell line models.
