#4574 Long-acting somatostatin analogue injections for treating gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (GEP-NETs) and acromegaly: BackSOM – A patient preference study

Introduction: Long-acting somatostatin analogues, lanreotide and octreotide, are indicated for first-line treatment of GEP-NETs and acromegaly. Lanreotide was approved in 2007 in Europe, and is supplied as a prefilled, ready-to-use syringe (LAN-PF). In 2021, a generic form of lanreotide was released and supplied in a syringe requiring assembly (LAN-RA). To ensure patient compliance with treatment, it is important to understand their injection experiences.

#3815 Real-world observational study of somatostatin analogues and rescue medication use for neuroendocrine tumors in Canada

Introduction: Both octreotide long-acting release (OCT-LAR) and lanreotide autogel (LAN-ATG) are available in Canada for the management of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Patients can switch between SSAs due to effectiveness, adverse events (AEs), preference or reimbursement. For patients with functional disease, short acting SSAs can be used concomitantly as rescue medication to improve symptom control.

#3807 Key device attributes for Somatostatin Receptor Ligand (SRL) therapy in patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs)

Introduction: SRL injection effectiveness, safety and adherence are similar for independent vs healthcare setting administration, but patient preferences and satisfaction with devices vary. For other injectable hormones, device ease of use has been associated with more favourable outcomes. Elucidating preferred SRL device features should help HCPs decide which device best fits individual needs.

#3787 PRESTO 3 – An international, simulated-use study to assess nurses’ preferences between two lanreotide injection syringes (Somatuline Autogel vs Pharmathen) for patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) and/or acromegaly

Introduction: Somatostatin analogues (SSAs) are often used to treat patients with NETs and acromegaly. The Pharmathen syringe is now available in Europe and the USA for depot injection. It is important for decision making when using SSAs that there is confidence in and ease of use with any syringe.
