A systematic review of hepatic transplantation for neuroendocrine liver metastases – Focus on long-term outcomes

#3968

Introduction: Neuroendocrine neoplasms frequently metastasise to the liver. Neuroendocrine liver metastases (NELM) may be treated with a broad range of therapeutic options - liver transplantation (LT) being an uncommon, potentially promising, but controversially debated approach.

Aim(s): To undertake a systematic review of currently available evidence regarding outcomes from the use of liver transplantation from NELM, with a focus on the evidence pertaining to long-term outcomes (e.g. >10 years) where possible.

Materials and methods: Systematic review of clinical studies published in PubMed, Scopus or OVID until 1 Jul 2021. Papers published in English or German were considered; individual case reports were not included. In cases where multiple 'update' reports were available from the same centre/registry, the most recent was used.
