Endoscopic resectability and clinical outcome of patients with rectal neuroendocrine neoplasms
#3170
Introduction: Rectal neuroendocrine neoplasms (rectal carcinoids or r-NEN) are lesions of uncertain malignant potential. Most of them are polypoid, with yellowish coloration, central ulceration and/or depression, or submucosal bulging, commonly measure less than 10 mm. Their finding is often incidental and are mainly asymptomatic. The most appropriate clinical and endoscopic management of these lesions is still debated.
Aim(s): To evaluate the endoscopic resectability and clinical outcome of a cohort of patients with r-NEN followed by the ENETS-Rome Center of Excellence AOU Sant’Andrea.
Materials and methods: A retrospective analysis of r-NEN histologic diagnosis, clinical and endoscopic data were carried out, from March 2010 to September 2020.
