The Symptoms Experienced by Small Bowel and Pancreatic NET Patients Prior to Diagnosis Do Not Meet the Criteria for a Functional Diarrhoea (IBS-D) Diagnosis
#1331
Introduction: Patients with neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) complain of symptoms that may be mistaken for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). There is no clear data if these symptoms overlap with those of IBS or if differentiating symptoms co-exist.
Aim(s): To identify if NET patients' pre-diagnosis symptoms meet the criteria for a diagnosis of functional diarrhoea (IBS-D)
Materials and methods: An anonymised online questionnaire of NET patients was developed via SurveyMonkey that incorporated a screen for IBS–D (Rome III criteria).
