#4609 External validation of Rachel score: A prognostic tool for lung neuroendocrine tumours
Introduction: Lung NETs are a heterogeneous group of tumours with variegated clinical presentation and course. The histological subtype (TC vs AC) and TNM stage are established prognostic factors. In a previous work by our group, we developed a prognostic model named Rachel score, with a satisfactory ability to predict OS and PFS in this population.

Introduction: Gastroenteropancreatic (GEP) neuroendocrine neoplasia (NET) is a heterogeneous disease. While 68-Ga PET is considered the gold standard in GEP-NETs, the role of [18F]FDG PET/CT is not well established, particularly in well-differentiated G1 NETs.

Introduction: Expression of somatostatin receptor subtypes (sstr) is required for the successful use of somatostatin analogues (SSA) in the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors (NET). Reliable detection of sstr could improve the selection of SSA treatment. Rabbit and mouse monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) were recently developed independently in Jena and Basel.

Introduction: Pasireotide (SOM230) is a novel multi-receptor ligand somatostatin analogue with high affinity for somatostatin receptor subtypes sst1,2,3 and sst5. Like octreotide, which binds primarily to sst2, it inhibits hypersecretion of hormones from patients with functional pituitary tumors and gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine (GEP/NET) tumors. In addition, tumor shrinkage has been observed with both compounds in patients with acromegaly, Cushing’s disease and GEP/NETs, but its tumor-reducing mechanism of action has so far not been revealed. In patients with breast and liver cancer, octreotide had little or no antitumor activity.
