#3240 miR-29b serum levels are down-regulated in patients with neuroendocrine tumors
Introduction: Due to its involvement in tumor biology as well as tumor-associated stroma cell responses, recent data suggested a potential role of miR-29 as a biomarker for different malignancies.

Introduction: Neuroendocrine neoplasia (NEN) represent a heterogeneous group of malignancies that might be challenging to diagnose. In case of advanced disease stages and especially in cases of poorly differentiated (G3) NEN, patients face a dismal prognosis. Therefore, innovative biomarkers allowing an early diagnosis as well as an optimal selection of suitable treatment options might help to improve clinical management of these patients.

Introduction: Future improvements in NETs therapy depend on treatments tailored to tumor cell characteristics, microenvironment and inflammatory status. We recently reported selective downregulation of microRNAs (miRs) -29 and -223 in serum of NET patients, suggesting a possible role in NET disease.

#3194 miR-223 - A potential diagnostic biomarker in gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors
Introduction: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are key regulators of tumor biology, with functions that range from an oncogene to a tumor suppressor. They are proposed as diagnostic, prognostic and predictive circulating or tissue-based biomarkers in several human diseases, especially carcinoma. However, their role in pathogenesis of neuroendocrine neoplasia remains incompletely elucidated, and emerging insights still await translation into clinical treatment modalities.
