#3752 Loss of protein expression of tumor suppressor genes in neuroendocrine tumors – A tissue microarray analysis of 201 tumors from various organ sites

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) are a heterogenous group of tumors which differ in outcome based on their primary site. So far, data on inactivation of tumor suppressor genes in NET are mainly based on pancreatic and small intestine NET (pNET, siNET), whereas NET from other organ sites have not rigorously been analysed.

#3662 Nothing but NET? Neuroendocrine tumors in multiple endocrine neoplasia 4

Introduction: Multiple endocrine neoplasia 4 (MEN4) is a rare multi-neoplasia syndrome caused by a germline pathogenic variant in CDKN1B gene, encoding p27, a cell-cycle regulator. MEN4 manifestations include primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT), pituitary adenomas (PitAd), and neuroendocrine neoplasms (NEN). The characteristics of MEN4-NENs have not been thoroughly characterized thus far.

#1559 MTOR Controls an Epigenetic Program Leading to Autophagy and Cell Growth Control

Introduction: Makroautophagy represents an evolutionary highly conserved process involved in the clearance of proteins and organelles. The induction of this central cellular process is tightly connected with programs regulating cell growth control. While the cytoplasmic machinery that orchestrates autophagy is relatively well understood the key epigenetic events that initiate autophagy-related cell growth programs remain largely unknown.

#1494 CDK-Inhibitors as New Therapeutic Treatment for Human Bronchial Carcinoids

Introduction: Bronchial Carcinoids (BC) are still orphan of medical therapy. We previously demonstrated that 70% of primary BC cultures are sensitive to Everolimus (E), an mTOR inhibitor, while 30% are not. We also observed that in 2 human BC cell lines, the NCI-H720 (sensitive to E) and NCI-H727 (resistant to E), mTOR resistance may be linked to a differential cell cycle protein expression (CyclinD1/E, CDK2/4, p27kip1/p27kip1phospho-Ser10), which is higher in BC resistant to E as compared to sensitive ones, suggesting an impaired p27 function

#1478 The Role of p27 in Pheochromocytoma Development

Introduction: The Cdkn1b gene, encoding p27, is a tumor susceptibility gene for multiple endocrine neoplasia syndromes in rats (MENX) and humans (MEN4) with development of pheochromocytoma (PCC), respectively. Recently, it was reported that p27 indirectly regulates gene transcription by associating with transcription factors (TF) and inhibiting gene transcription at specific promoters.
