#2941 Mixed Urothelial and Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of the Urinary Bladder: Case Report and Literature Review

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) comprise <1% of all bladder tumors,characterized by poor prognosis. These tumors may be either pure or impure, intermixed with urothelial carcinoma. There is currently no therapeutic consensus. We report the case of primary impure neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC).

Systematic large evaluation of classical (chromogranin A (chrA), synaptophysin (Syn), CD56) and emerging (chromogranin B (chrB), INSM1) markers are lacking.

Introduction: Immunohistochemical expression of synaptophysin (SYN), chromogranin (CgA) and cytokeratin are essential for diagnosis of NENs. Non-NENs, however, may occasionally also express NE-markers and cytokeratin and cause diagnostic difficulties.

#2301 Trends in Management of Gastro-Intestinal Neuroendocrine Tumors in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases: The Contribute of a Case Series.

Introduction: The risk to develop gastro-intestinal malignancies is higher in patients affected by inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Apart from colo-rectal cancer, related to a long standing inflammation, there is a growing evidence of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) in these patients and a correlation between these two diseases has been postulated. We report four cases of NETs in IBD.
