Introduction: Recently pasireotide (PAS) and everolimus (RAD) emerged as potential therapies for neuroendocrine tumors (NETs).
Aim(s): To compare the effect of octreotide (OCT) PAS and RAD on cell viability, proliferation and hormonal secretion, in primary cultures of human gastroenteropancreatic-NETs (GEP-NETs).
Materials and methods: We established 13 in vitro primary cultures of GEP-NETs, using PCR and immunocytochemistry to assess expression of SSTR and MTT and BrdU assays to assess cell viability and proliferation.
