Radiologic tumor border status can further stratify patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor

#3976

Introduction: Recently, pattern-based classifications of the tumor border of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (PanNET) have been attempted by independent groups for patient stratification, which are only available in the post-operative setting.

Aim(s): We aimed to discover the prognostic role of tumor border of PanNETs with pre-operative computed tomography (CT) images.

Materials and methods: Tumor border of 186 surgically resected PanNET cases were evaluated with preoperative CT images (well vs. poorly defined), gross images (Expansile vs. Infiltrative), and hematoxylin and eosin slides (Pushing vs. Infiltrative). Clinicopathologic and prognostic significances of tumor border status were assessed.
