Role of Biomarkers in Disease Progression of NET
Introduction: Due to the non specific features of neuroendocrine tumors and lack of diagnostic biomarkers, the diagnosis is usually delayed and almost half of patients presenting with distant metastases
Aim(s): Our study aims to investigate the utility of Cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript (CART) in comparison with Chromogranin A and Chromogranin B. We also aim to evaluate whether CART is valuable in determining disease progression.
Materials and methods: A case control study and 30 Patients (control) were included in the study with healthy profile and normal renal function. 30 confirmed NET patients with information of primary tumor source, metastasis, disease progression or remission, total tutor burden and renal functions; were included in the study. Following ethical approval, plasma CART, CgA, and CgB were measured.
