Introduction: Delays to diagnosis in neuroendocrine neoplasms is a world-wide problem. Challenges and inequities recognised include low awareness and access to expert centres. Indices of multiple deprivation (IMD) assess the least to the most deprived areas in the UK, 1 being the most deprived of the 10 deciles.

Introduction: Carcinoid syndrome (CS) constitutes up to 20% of functional neuroendocrine neoplasms and can lead to carcinoid crisis (CC), a potentially fatal complication during invasive procedures. Urine 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5HIAA) is the preferred diagnostic biomarker for CS and prognostic marker for CC. 5HIAA is collected over 24-hours with strict dietary restriction for the 2 days prior as well as the day of the collection. False positive and negative results can occur due to under and over-collection. Patient inconvenience also contributes to the low request rate of this test.

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) are characterized by their ability to secrete amines and peptides. Overproduction of serotonin results in the carcinoid syndrome (CS), present in approximately 20% of all NET patients. Measuring the main metabolite of serotonin, 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA), in 24-hour urine is frequently used for the diagnosis and follow-up of CS patients. However, these measurements are prone to sampling error and may be troublesome for patients. Serum 5-HIAA measurements might be a more reliable and convenient alternative in the diagnosis of CS.

#3737 The use of somatostatin analogues in a pregnant patient with gastric NET
Introduction: The question of the use of somatostatin analogues (ASS) during pregnancy remains open and requires further clarifications and observations, but based on the facts already known to us, we can suggest that, despite the fact that there are currently no adequate well-designed and well-controlled studies evaluating the use of ASS in pregnant women, there is enough data on a limited number of patients indicating on the absence of undesirable effects of ASS on the course of pregnancy or the health of the fetus/newborn.
