#4578 Dissecting the role of collagen quantitation via tissue-tethered digital analysis in small bowel neuroendocrine tumours and related mesenteric tumour deposits

Introduction: Small bowel neuroendocrine tumours (sb-NETs) and related mesenteric tumour deposits (MTDs) can present dense collagen and fibrosis. Despite well-known clinical consequences of this characteristic (bowel obstruction and ischemia), the relationship between SB-NETs and MTDs collagen deposition has been poorly evaluated.

#4572 Steroid dosing to prevent tumour flare reaction with 177Lu-DOTATATE

Introduction: Tumour flare reactions including increased pain and small bowel obstruction (SBO) have been reported in patients with somatostatin receptor (SSTR)-positive gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (GEP-NETs) receiving 177Lu-DOTATATE. Retrospective reviews report tumour flare reactions in 6 to 40 percent of high-risk patients receiving 177Lu-DOTATATE and report success with using corticosteroid prophylaxis to prevent tumour flare recurrence with subsequent doses of 177Lu-DOTATATE (Strosberg, et al., 2021; Salner, et al., 2020).

#4220 Risk of bowel ischemia in patients with mesenteric neuroendocrine tumors after treatment with 177Lutetium-DOTATATE

Introduction: 177Lutetium (Lu)-DOTATATE is an effective treatment for metastatic gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs). However, radiation can cause transient inflammation/swelling of tumors which can result in toxicity. Treatment-related small bowel obstruction associated with mesenteric or peritoneal disease has been described.

Introduction: Small bowel neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) arise from the diffuse neuroendocrine system. These are often diagnosed as a result of acute symptomatology such as bowel obstruction and are the most common cause of carcinoid syndrome (CS) due to liver metastases (LM).

Introduction: There are only few, but controversial data on the prognostic role of upfront primary tumor resection and mesenteric lymph node dissection (PTR) in patients with stage IV small intestinal neuroendocrine neoplasia (SI-NEN).
