#4300 A retrospective comparison of preoperative characteristics and surgical outcomes in small intestine neuroendocrine neoplasms (SiNENs) and small intestine adenocarcinoma

Introduction: SiNENs are complex tumours with unique behaviour. Despite 30 years of progress, limited data and diagnostic challenges hinder understanding, complicating assessment of their biology and outcomes.

#3390 Complete regression of neuroendocrine cancer metastases after chemotherapy with carboplatin and etoposide

Introduction: Patients with neuroendocrine carcinomas are usually metastatic at diagnosis and have a poor prognosis. First-line chemotherapy is a combination of cis- or carboplatin and etoposide, with limited and often short-lasting effect.

#1490 Even Malignant Appendiceal Neuroendocrine Tumors Exhibit No Recurrent Chromosomal Alterations

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) of the midgut are located in the ileum (iNET), caecum or appendix (aNET). Despite of the similar origin, NETs of the ileum and the appendix behave remarkably different. iNETs show high malignant potential, which manifests with early lymph node or liver metastases. Genetically, the loss of chromosome 18 (Ch18) in 60-74% of cases is the most frequent alteration in iNETs. aNETs are often incidental findings, rarely show metastases, and no chromosomal alterations are known.

#594 Neurokinin A Levels Predict Survival in Patients with Well-Differentiated Small Bowel Neuroendocrine Tumors

Introduction: Recent European investigations demonstrated that persistently elevated (> 50 pg/ml) plasma neurokinin A (NKA) levels are associated with poor short-term survival in patients with midgut neuroendocrine tumors (NETS).
