#4168 BRCA gene mutations and NEN – Is it just random or a meaningful coincidence?

Introduction: A BRCA mutation denotes a genetic alteration found in either the BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes, both of which function as tumor suppressors. BRCA mutations are widely acknowledged for their link to breast and ovarian cancers, and rarely, to other malignancies such as the pancreas and prostate. Noteworthy, there have been limited reports associating BRCA mutations with NEN, and no possible co-relation to certain racial/ethnic populations has been reported to date.

#3934 The stromal microenvironment endows pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors with spatially specific invasive and metastatic phenotypes

Introduction: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) play an important role in a variety of cancers. However, the heterogeneity of CAFs is poorly understood in non-functional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (NF-PanNETs). Profiling the heterogeneity of CAFs might reveal the causes of malignant phenotypes in NF-PanNETs.

#3845 The lungNENomics project – A comprehensive multidisciplinary characterisation of pulmonary carcinoids

Introduction: Lung neuroendocrine tumors (LNETs) are subdivided into low-grade (typical) and intermediate-grade (atypical) carcinoids, at higher risk of developing metastases. We have previously identified 3 LNETs molecular groups with different prognoses, as well as “supra-carcinoids” with molecular profiles of higher-grade neuroendocrine carcinomas. Despite promising results, there is still no consensus on their differential diagnosis and treatment and little is known about how some tumors evolve toward more aggressive phenotypes.

Introduction: The phase II TALENT clinical trial provided evidence of the efficacy of Lenvatinib in patients with panNETs and giNETs. However, the role of radiomic predictive biomarkers of response to antiangiogenic drugs remain unknown.
