#3896 Diagnostic utility of menin immunohistochemistry in MEN1 syndrome patients

Introduction: A clinical diagnosis of Multiple Neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) syndrome is confirmed with genetic testing. It is expected that menin protein expression is lost in MEN1 related tumors.

#2156 Two Cases Synchronous Atypical Parathyroid Adenomas and Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma

Introduction: A literature review revealed a prevalence of approximately 3% of nonmedullary thyroid cancer, which was found in patients operated on for primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT). Papillary thyroid carcinomas(PTC) is a malignant epithelial tumour. PTC represent up to 87% of all thyroid carcinomas. Atypical parathyroid adenoma(APA) are a subset of parathyroid neoplasms that exhibit some of the features of parathyroid carcinoma but lack unequivocal invasive growth. APA represents about 0,5-4% of cases of pHPT. As a group, they may be considered tumors of uncertain malignant potential.

Introduction: Multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) is characterized by the occurrence of tumours involving two or more endocrine glands. MEN 1 is characterized by parathyroid adenoma, pancreaticoduodenal neuroendocrine tumors (PNTs), and pituitary adenomas.

#1645 A Role of TETs and 5-Hydroxymethylcytosine in SI-NETs

Introduction: Small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NETs) are rare and slow growing neoplasms. Identification of patients with worse outcome and of novel potential targets for therapy is important goals. The epigenetic mark 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5-hmC) is severely reduced in various cancers and was recently found by us to discriminate between parathyroid adenoma and carcinoma. A growth regulatory role of TET1 was also found.
