#4594 RNA splicing as a key regulatory player with translational potential in pulmonary neuroendocrine neoplasms (lungNETs)

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) are a diverse group of neoplasms arising from neuroendocrine cells. Within this group, lung neuroendocrine tumours (LungNETs) represent one of the most frequent subtypes of NETs. LungNETs are classified by grade, according to their proliferative index and aggressiveness. Among them, typical carcinoids (G1) and atypical carcinoids (G2) are the lowest grade subtypes. While these tumours are less aggressive, they remain underexplored compared to higher-grade subtypes, highlighting the need for molecular studies to improve clinical approaches. In this context, previous studies have shown that abnormalities in the splicing machinery are frequent in tumour pathologies and also occur in LungNETs.

#4587 Exploring the splicing landscape to identify survival-related biomarkers in small intestine neuroendocrine neoplasms

Introduction: The study of small intestine neuroendocrine neoplasms (siNENs) is challenging due to their rarity and complexity. While transcriptomic subtypes have been identified, the mechanisms behind their progression are still unclear. The process of RNA splicing is often altered in cancer, and our group has described that such dysregulation is also present in various NENs.

#4568 Investigating the dual role of SNW1 in splicing and transcription to understand pancreatic neuroendocrine tumour progression

Introduction: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (PanNETs) are classified into grades (G1-G3) based on mitotic rate, with higher grades exhibiting increased dedifferentiation and invasiveness. Despite the clinical significance of PanNETs progression, the underlying mechanisms remain largely unexplored. We have previously reported that altered alternative splicing plays an essential role in PanNETs progression, where SNW1, a key regulator of splicing and transcription, was found to be overexpressed in tumour tissue, correlating with higher grade and recurrence risk.

#4559 Exploring the interplay between RNA methylation and splicing dysregulation in neuroendocrine tumours

Introduction: Post-transcriptional modifications play crucial roles in regulating gene expression and cellular function. While recent findings indicate that alternative splicing dysregulation plays a key role in tumorigenic properties of neuroendocrine tumours (NETs), the role of other RNA processing mechanisms, such as N6-methyladenosine (m6A) — being the most common RNA methylation — remains largely unexplored in NETs.

#4431 Systemic treatment in metastatic pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas: Optimal moment for starting and outcomes of a multicentre Spanish cohort

Introduction: Pheochromocytomas (PHEOs) and paragangliomas (PGLs), collectively referred to as PPGLs, are relatively rare endocrine tumours with significant clinical variability and metastatic behaviour. Treatment strategies must be tailored individually due to the heterogeneity in their behaviour.
