Introduction: Post-transcriptional modifications play crucial roles in regulating gene expression and cellular function. While recent findings indicate that alternative splicing dysregulation plays a key role in tumorigenic properties of neuroendocrine tumours (NETs), the role of other RNA processing mechanisms, such as N6-methyladenosine (m6A) — being the most common RNA methylation — remains largely unexplored in NETs.

Introduction: Nearly 50% of patients with pNENs have metastases at the time of initial diagnosis, and there is a lack of effective treatment once they have metastases. The 5-year overall survival rate for G3 pNENs with metastasis at diagnosis was 0, which was significantly lower than that for patients without metastasis, with a 5-year overall survival rate of 43%. At present, the pathogenesis of pNENs has not been clarified.

#3847 RNA m6A methylation regulators in lung neuroendocrine neoplasms
Introduction: Lung carcinoids are commonly slow-proliferating neuroendocrine neoplasms (LungNENs) with a low mutational burden. Recent research has suggested a severe alteration in the profile of alternative splicing in LungNENs. In contrast, the role of emerging related systems like the genes regulating N6 methyladenosine (m6A), the most abundant internal modification of RNA, has been poorly explored in these rare tumors. We hypothesize that the expression profile of m6A-related genes could be altered in LungNENs in relation to their development.

Introduction: Hypoxia is a marker of cancer progression. When faced with hypoxia, tumor cells exhibit the dynamic change of N6-methyladenine (m6A). m6A is a reversible RNA modification that plays an important role in gene expression regulation and is closely related to the occurrence and development of various tumors.
