Introduction: There is an unmet clinical need to identify new, effective therapies for patients with neuroendocrine tumours (NETs). Analysis of single-cell expression data revealed that NETs express high levels of the Bcl2 family of antiapoptotic proteins. Therefore, we hypothesised that proapoptotic drugs, such as BH3-mimetics, can induce programmed cell death, i.e., apoptosis, of neuroendocrine cancer cells.

#3931 Construction and comparison of non-functional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor models
Introduction: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNET) which account for more than 80% of pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasm (pNEN) can be divided into functional and non-functional. The non-functional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (NF-pNET) without hormone-related clinical symptoms is frequently found by chance during physical examination or in large primaries and late stages of disease.

Introduction: The lack of preclinical models of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs) challenges advancement in biomarker discovery. Culturing cancer cells in their native tissue enables the study of complex tumor cell-ECM interactions, products of which could be utilised as disease biomarkers.
