#4166 Characterising the tumor microenvironment of multifocal small intestinal NETs
Introduction: Small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NETs) are thought to arise from enterochromaffin cells of the gut, often with multiple synchronous primary tumors. Recently, we showed that synchronous primary tumors from the same SI-NET patient display distinct somatic mutational profiles, suggesting that these tumors originate independently, despite few clear driver mutations. Thus, new mechanistic insights into multifocal SI-NETs are urgently needed.

Introduction: Small-intestinal neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NET) are rising in incidence and complications such as mesenteric and hepatic metastases are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. It has recently been suggested that mesenteric metastases risk increases in women around menopause.

Introduction: Pelvic metastases (PMs) in patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are rare and develop predominately in women with small intestinal NETs (Si-NETs). The characteristics of NET related PMs and the efficacy of different management options have been poorly investigated.
