Introduction: Patient tumour-derived cell lines have been widely used for studying the molecular mechanisms of tumours and their response to therapy. The establishment of cell lines from gastro-entero-pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (GEPNETs) has proved difficult, but despite the challenges a limited amount of cell lines now exists.

Introduction: Tumour cell invasion and proliferation is a key factor for the prognosis and progression of cancer. A recent study revealed that cannabinoids can inhibit tumour invasion and proliferation in breast cancer through the down-regulation of ID-1, an inhibitor of helix-turn-helix transcription factors.

Introduction: Small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NETs) represent a group of rare neoplasms, derived mainly from enterochromaffine cells. Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) is a calcitonin-producing neuroendocrine tumor arising from the parafollicular C-cells. SI-NETs as well as MTCs are known for their poor response to standard therapy. Therefore, there is a substantial need to establish new therapeutic options in the clinical treatment of these tumors.

#1180 A Novel Human Cell Line from Familial Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma
Introduction: Cell lines from hereditary medullary thyroid carcinomas (MTC) are very rare, therefore, there is a substantial need to establish new cell lines. Here, we present a novel familial MTC (FMTC) cell line, designated SCHWE.
