#4058 Carcinoid syndrome caused by pulmonary neuroendocrine tumor liver metastases: A case report

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) comprise a heterogeneous groups of maliganancies that arise from neuroencrine cells throughout the body and most commonly originate from the small intestine, lung,and rectum. Pulmonary NETs originate from pulmonary neuroendocrine cells that occur as individual cells or small pulmonary neuroendocrine cell. Although carcinoid tumors are considered low or intermediate-grade tumors, they metastasize to regional lymph nodes and distant organs, and the most common sites metastases are the liver and bone.

#3812 Validation of NEP-D score as a prognostic index in bronchial carcinoid tumors

Introduction: The development of prognostic scores able to classify patients with Bronchial Carcinoid (BC) according to clinical outcomes may help guide treatment selection. The NEP- score was found to be useful to stratify survival probability in patients with well-differentiated neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs). According to multiple factors (age, primary tumor site, presence of metastasis, Ki-67, presence of functioning status and prior surgical removal of the primary tumor) NEP- score stratifies patients into different risk groups. The NEP-score at diagnosis (NEP-D score) is a derived score that could be calculated at diagnosis and does not consider the appearance of new metastases during follow-up.

#3733 New insights on the clinical role of Ki-67 and spindle cell and oncocytic histological variants in lung carcinoid tumors

Introduction: WHO classification defines lung carcinoid tumors (LCTs) as well-differentiated neuroendocrine neoplasms classified in typical (TC) and atypical carcinoids (AC). Morphologic factors and protein expression able to predict recurrence after surgical curative resection are little known. Ki-67 and spindle cell and oncocytic histological variants may impact on differential diagnosis, but their clinical relevance is much debated.

#3715 Finding the frequency of bronchial carcinoid tumors associated with neuroendocrine syndrome

Introduction: Pulmonary carcinoid tumors are part of bronchopulmonary neuroendocrine neoplasms (bpNETs) along with large and small cell pulmonary carcinoma. They are capable of producing a variety of peptides and biological active hormones such as serotonin, histamine, bombesin thus leading to several endocrine syndromes.
